Meet the team

Greg Lucier founded Corza Medical in partnership with leading private equity firm GTCR to combine his 30+ years of life sciences leadership with GTCR’s unrivaled track record of creating unique, value-generating private equity opportunities. Greg most recently served as Chairman and CEO at NuVasive, a global technology leader in minimally invasive spine and orthopedic surgery. Prior to that, he was Chairman and CEO at Life Technologies—formerly Invitrogen—which he grew into a global life sciences powerhouse that was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific for more than $15 billion. He spent the first part of his career with the General Electric—including GE Healthcare—in a variety of corporate officer and executive roles. Greg serves on several public and private company boards, including Antylia Scientific, Catalent, Dentsply Sirona, Maravai LifeSciences, and Pleno, Inc. He holds a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Master’s in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

Tom Testa brings more than 30 years of leadership experience with the last 12 years focused on the medical device industry. Before his appointment to CEO in 2023, Tom was Chief Financial Officer of Corza Medical since its inception in 2021. Tom’s experience includes both senior financial and general management roles. He came to Corza Medical following his assignment as Vice President and General Manager of Nordson Medical, which he joined following Nordson’s acquisition of the Vention Medical Advanced Technologies business, where he was President. Tom was formerly the Chief Financial Officer of Vention Medical and GenTek, Inc., a diversified industrial holding company. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and an MBA in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University.

Dennis brings nearly thirty years of experience in strategy and business development, driving organic and acquired growth through mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic affiliations. Most recently Dennis served as SVP, Business Development & Licensing at Baxter Healthcare and previously held executive leadership roles at Tyco International and Medtronic/Covidien, among others. Dennis holds a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College.

Carla da Luz Boren has over 20 years of human resources and legal experience across the life sciences and biotech sectors. Prior to Corza, she held several senior leadership level roles. Most recently, Carla served as General Counsel and Chief Human Resources Officer of Otonomy, Inc. Prior to Otonomy, Carla held senior leadership roles across various businesses and global functions at Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher, including Vice President of Human Resources, Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures & Integrations where she supported over 20 international and domestic transactions from diligence through integration. During her more than nine-year tenure at Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher, she also served as an Integration Leader and In-House Counsel. Previously, Ms. Boren was an attorney with the law firms of DLA Piper as well as Littler Mendelson. Ms. Boren earned her Juris Doctorate at University of California, Los Angeles and her Bachelor’s degree in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from University of California, Berkeley.

Henry Burmeister was appointed to the role of Chief Financial Officer effective in January 2023. Henry is a veteran finance expert with a progressive and successful track record in the medical industry and specialty chemical sectors spanning more than 20 years. Prior to joining Corza Medical, he served as CFO of Wytech Industries, a private equity-backed precision manufacturer of medical devices. Prior to Wytech Industries, Henry held senior finance roles at Viant Medical and Vention Medical. Henry earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College and holds an MBA in Finance from Lehigh University.

Jimmy DeStephens brings over 15 years of leadership experience across medical technology. Prior to Corza Medical, Jimmy was the Vice President of Corporate Business Development & Venture Capital for Baxter. Jimmy has also held various roles in business development, finance and operations with Acelity, Covidien (now Medtronic) and Tyco. Jimmy earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering & Economics from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Yale University.

Thierry Leclercq joined Corza Medical in January as SVP, GM Biosurgery. Thierry is an accomplished executive who spent over 30 years in upward progression at GE Healthcare, with roles of expanding breadth and responsibility across Asia, EMEA, and the U.S., culminating with his role as President & CEO of GE LifeCare Solutions. After his GE career, Thierry became CEO at DUTCH OPHTHALMIC RESOPHTHALMICTER, NL (DORC), a leading Ophthalmic retinal solutions provider. At DORC, he led a business turnaround culminating in a successful sale to its current owners, Eurazeo Group. Thierry has a deep history and experience leading manufacturing operations, new product development, and commercial organizations for medical devices and pharmaceuticals. Thierry holds a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Université de Technologie de Compiègne and an MBA from Temple University.

Jack Simmons adds over 12 years of experience leading customer-centric commercial models and delivering above market growth in the global medical technology industry. Jack joined Corza Medical through the Katena Products, Inc. acquisition where he most recently served as the Vice President of Global Sales and lead the direct selling, distributor partnership, commercial operations, and customer service activities globally for the company. Prior to Katena, Jack spent 11 years at Cardinal Health where he held a variety of roles in sales, sales management, marketing, and finance/operations. Jack holds a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing management and master’s in sport management from the University of Minnesota.

David brings an impressive and successful 40+ years of global Quality & Regulatory leadership experience in successfully developing and implementing regulatory product strategies across both the medical device and pharmaceutical space. Prior to Corza Medical, David was Sr. VP, RA & QA at Exact Sciences and at Cardinal Health. Prior to Cardinal Health, David held senior-level Quality and Regulatory roles at Terumo, Bausch & Lomb, Fisher Diagnostics, and Wyeth/Pfizer. David’s breadth and depth of knowledge and global experience across QA/Regulatory and manufacturing for both pharmaceutical and medical device products will enable Corza Medical’s transformative growth, support our ongoing acquisition strategy, and ensure execution on our commitment to innovation and exceptional customer experience. David holds an M.B.A. from Shenandoah University, and bachelor’s degrees in biology & chemistry from Westmar University, and business management from Buena Vista College.

James Getty, Ph.D., joined Corza Medical in January as SVP, Technology where he will lead efforts driving innovation to better serve our customers globally. James has nearly 30 years of experience in medical device product development and manufacturing and is a recognized expert in development processes and continuous improvement techniques. James’ experience includes increasing levels of responsibility across product development, sales & marketing, and manufacturing, most recently serving as Vice President and General Manger at Nordson Medical leading contract engineering and manufacturing teams serving the interventional medical device market. James holds a doctorate degree in chemistry from the University of California at Davis.

Dennis brings more than 25 years of experience within the medical device industry. Most recently, he served as Vice President and Head of Manufacturing for Teleflex, where he provided leadership to a cross-functional team that was responsible for end-to-end Supply Chain operations within the U.S. and Mexico. Prior to Teleflex, Dennis held several leadership positions with Integer, including Vice President of Global Operations. He also spent time as an entrepreneur where he was the Founder and President for Competitive Edge Manufacturing, an outsourcing and distribution company. Dennis also held several positions with Johnson & Johnson in the earlier parts of his career. Dennis holds an Executive MBA from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University. He served in the United States Army Reserves and holds a certification in Lean Manufacturing.

Lauren has over 12 years of legal and compliance experience focused on medical devices, software, and life sciences. She provides legal and compliance advice in a wide variety of areas, including mergers and acquisitions, commercial contracts, corporate governance, data privacy, litigation, intellectual property, and risk management. Prior to joining Corza, Lauren held various in-house counsel positions of increasing responsibility. Lauren was formerly Senior Corporate Counsel at Agero, a software company offering roadside assistance management services for OEMs and insurance companies. Prior to that, she was IP Counsel at Abiomed during a period of rapid growth, where she led the global IP strategy for their innovative catheter-based heart pumps. Lauren began her career as a patent attorney at Nutter McClennen and Fish, a Boston-based general practice firm. Lauren has a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and a Bachelor of Science in engineering science, magna cum laude, from Smith College.

Prior to joining Corza Medical and Surgical Specialties in 2017 to run our China business, James was the Managing Director of Devicor Medical China. In this role, James was part of the management team that successfully spun off Johnson & Johnson’s breast care business to form Devicor. His leadership drove the doubling of revenue from 2012 to 2015, resulting in the acquisition of Devicor by Danaher. Prior to Devicor, James worked for Johnson & Johnson Medical China for 15 years, across numerous specialties including cardiovascular, orthopedics and women’s health. During his time at J&J, James was involved in businesses at various stages from start-up through sustainable growth periods. James graduated from Second Military Medical University in Shanghai, and also holds an MBA from Rutgers University School of Business.

Prior to joining Corza Medical and Surgical Specialties in 2019, Yong was VP and General Manager of Physiology, Cell and Molecular Instruments at Harvard Biosciences. Previously, he served as Vice President of Global Marketing and Americas Sales at Beaver-Visitec International, a company combining the ophthalmic business units from Becton Dickinson (BD) and Medtronic. Earlier in his career, Yong served in progressive positions at BD, including Director of Global Marketing & U.S. Sales and at Eli Lilly & Company where he was the Marketing Manager, Global Life Sciences Market & Greater China Region. Yong holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, a Master’s of Science in environmental science & engineering from Northeastern University and a Bachelor’s of Science in biochemistry from Peking University.

Korey has over 15 years of leadership and advisory experience in the medtech, pharma, and life science industries. Korey joined Corza and Surgical Specialties in 2015, leading the global supply chain function and expanding his focus to distribution, customer service, strategy, and business integration. Prior to joining Surgical Specialties, Korey worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers life sciences advisory and deals practice. While there, he led engagements across all aspects of his client organizations including buy/sell side advisory, integration strategy/execution, and corporate strategy. Korey has also held various positions with Medtronic and KPMG London. Korey earned a BA from Michigan State University and an MBA from HEC School of Management in Paris, France.

Arun Mohan brings over 13 years of experience focused on strategic marketing, market development, and commercialization of various medical device technologies across laparoscopic, robotic, ENT, and ophthalmic surgical specialties. Arun joined Corza Medical through the Katena Products, Inc. acquisition, where he most recently served as the Vice President of Global Marketing responsible for global product management, digital marketing & enablement, R&D, medical education, and sales training globally for the company. Before Katena, Arun held various strategic, commercial, and technical roles with Asensus Surgical, Baxter International, and Cook Medical. Arun holds a Bachelor’s and Master of Science degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
